FINALLY SOME ORCHIDS

I had a couple of Dendrobium kingianum types flower early in the year as they normally do. One flowered very well and the other merely OK, as usual.

However due to my one of my conditions, Fibromyalgia, which causes memory lapses I kept forgetting to video them until it was too late and thee flowers were drying up! Damn it!

Anyhoo I had some others flower and some spikes on some of my tiny orchid species along with a ... surprise and the second of five orchid species I have had four years about to flower for the very first time!

See if you can spot it in the videos?

MANY FLOWERED DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE

Not uploaded a lot in a while now.

Sorry ... lots and lots happening right now and all will become clear soon. Umm they currently are not clear to me right now! Lol!

Did this video several days ago and have been trying to upload it to YouTube ever since! In fact I am sure there are several other things I have filmed and photographed I need to upload?!

Anyhoo my Blue Bamboo Orchid, Dendrobium victoriae-reginae, has not only produced more than one clump of flowers it has now gonee mad and produced five or six clumps?!

So here is a video of it and I will try and get some pictures up ... umm if I took pictures?! I think I did? Trouble with one of my health conditions is one of the many things it does is screw around several times daily with short term memory! I will not go into the pain list nor the other 80 things it does, lol. Or my blood pressure going both way too high and way too low, or my Hiatus Hernia or Right Knee or my Oesophagitis! Hehe.

None of the above ... well OK one thing is causing me issues of late, the blood pressure going to both extremes and the cheap crap pills they keep putting me on and then taking me off again.

I am in the dark with my 'lots of things going on' which is exacerbating the blood pressure problem, lol.

But all will be good in the end ... and I now am at the end, thank God!

Now for a little video of a very nice Blue Orchid ...

VANDA COERULEA BUDS OPENING

Now my Vanda coerulea flowering for the third time and unlike the Dendrobium victoria-reginae not quite old enough, large enough or setlled in enough to really show off! Sadly.

But I expect this one will do just that in about 6 months time?! Cannot wait either!

Bit fully opened as some of you will spot. A couple of days and should be there?!
More photos to come of course and there is and will be more videos over on my YouTube account too!

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE FLOWERING GOOD

Well its now onto ots thrid flowering, along with the Vanda coerulea you will see in the next post, and it is starting to get cocky and show off now my Dendrobium victoriae-reginae!

Stunning?! Well I do not know if you can see or not but two of the buds, at least two, have yet to open!! LMAO! Many more pictures when it does and there will be a video over on my YouTube account too!

VIDEO of DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE

Those Dendrobium victoriae-reginae flowers almost open fully now.

Should be a good year for this plant. After I bought it last year it flowered TWICE and I took delivery of it probably about now or 11 months back.

So since then it has two new canes and currently has two more rising up as I type! Interesting to see if it produces any more flowers along with these two and I did think it would but not so sure now. Even so in a couple months time it should be quite interesting when it flowers again depending on how high the new canes are?!

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE FIRST FLOWER 2013

I will be doing a series on this one now as I am sure there will be many more flowers to come, fingers crossed.

Photos not great but light not good when I took them quickly.

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE DEVELOPING BUDS

Well the first of the buds are now gaining in size and I only noticed when I looked at the picture there appears to be two?!

LMAO.

I need to quickly check these before I disappear out the house and count this bud section and look at the others.

VANDA COERULEA LAYS DOWN ITS ROOTS

Vanda coerulea roots seem to be getting everywhere which is good!

Can now glew or nail this cork anywhere I want in future and I DO have a very grand plan for Orchids that achieve this in my collection?!?!

Just have to wait and see, lol.

DENDROBUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE WITH SOME SURPRISES IN STORE

Some pictures of my Dendrobium vuctoriae-reginae which now look to be showing signs of many more flower buds that the previous two?!

Remember also that each of these can have between one and 4, 5, or 6 flowers and the most I had previous was two from one?!

First fllowering was one flower and second flowering was three flowers from two sources. I look to have 4 or 5 dark patches just from one cane and another cane looks to have at least one and another new growth at the top, where it was previously cut to produce more plants, growing upwards in line with the cane?!

This could be another flower bud but I do not think it is. Had I had longer experience with this beautiful species of Orchid I would probably know for sure but due to its diminutive size I am going with another cane or to be precise a KEIKI!

Now a keiki on this would be cool! I also want to order another one of these at some point and likely another Vanda coerulea.

In both these pictures you will see an area slightly above the second node which should be flowers buds. But better seen in the photo below is the tiny growth coming from the TOP of the cane which I believe to be a keiki or a whole new plant growth. Once big enough and has around two to four leaves this will produce roots around its base and once there are at least three of these of at least an inch long I can remove this plant to another pot, therefore starting a second separate plant?!

COOLIOS!!

Arrows point to the areas of dark patched where buds normally appear from. Only in ones or twos previously but this time around could be very different.

Once these two new canes have gone beyond the shortest of the shortest of the previous canes this will become quite a specimen indeed. After that the flowers it will produce should equal or exceed a majority of those you see in pictures.

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE - BLUE BAMBOO ORCHID

Now the excitement of the Bulbophyllum prodicing two new growths can ONLY be surpassed by me then spotting not one but TWO NEW CANES appearing on my Dendrobium victoriae-reginae!!!

Ooh YEAH!!

SO along with the bare beginnings of the dark patches that mean flower buds I also have two new growths?!

It produced two before but one ended up a little stunted but is still growing while the first one to appear is currently taller that the taller of the two canes when I first received it.

Now hoefully the stunted one will get another couple of inches and these new two, if I keep on top of it, will outgrow the current longest cane?!

If so when it is done this beautiful blue species Orchid really WILL put on quite a show INDEED!!

Fingers crossed, lol.

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE OLD PHOTOS

Some odd pictures of one of my two species Orchids that are blue.

This should start producing flower buds in about 4 weeks time?!

Fingers crossed I will get several flowers. First flower I got one and the second time I got TWO.

LMAO.

DENDROBIUM VICTORIAE-REGINAE's PURPLE LEAF SPOTS

Must be a trait of this type I am unfamiliar with, though I see it in other Orchids and even British Wild Orchids all the time!

But without me noticing Purple Pigments started appearing and forming into spots!!

Looks damn cool if I do say so myself?!

Should start budding up soon as just all the others now have, should produce new growths too and I will re-pot this one very soon!

VANDA COERULEA FLASH ONLY PHOTOGRAPHS

Probably the most blue they have appeared in a photo this far?!

I did this after the timers switched out the lights and used the flash only just to see how they would appear.

Well here they are...

VANDA COERULEA AT CLOSE QUARTERS Part 2

More close up shots of the Vanda coerulea flowers...

The textures on the petals are quite something and it changes a great deal depending on the light as does the colour. As I said previous this is a blue orchid but light has to be right. Only other blue Orchid that I know of, saw a third type but no details on it just yet, is the Dendrobium victoriae-reginae and also a stunning plant and flower in its own right!
